Seeing things differently: learning, teaching and assessment practices in higher education.

University of Stirling learning and teaching conference Wednesday 18th April 2018.

The keynote address will be provided by Siân Bayne, Professor of Digital Education at the University of Edinburgh, based in the Moray House School of Education, and also Assistant Principal for Digital Education www.sianbayne.net

We are delighted to invite you to contribute to our Annual Learning and Teaching Conference. Uncertainty and change permeate higher education and here at Stirling in 2018, we want to take a day to pause and examine how we can explore our changing landscape from different perspectives in order to make sense of our own learning and teaching contexts. Through these different lenses, we will be ‘confronting the darkness’ (Bengsten & Barnett, 2017) and collectively thinking about how seeing things differently can support us as we design our curricula and consolidate our learning, teaching and assessment practices.

The conference will be structured through 5 principal learning and teaching lenses:

  • International
  • Digital
  • (Post)graduate experience
  • Equality in diversity
  • Disciplinary

We invite you to present case studies of practice, conceptual and/or reflective studies which you wish to share with a wider audience.  These may include how you have designed activities to support your learners in face-to-face or digital settings; how you have changed the ways you teach or assess your learners in response to internal or external drivers; or the ways in which students have contributed to the facilitation of their own learning.

Presentation Opportunities

We welcome posters outlining your work, and will provide opportunities where you will be able to discuss this work with conference attendees.

We will be also providing 30 minute sessions for you to engage your audience and in which you should aim to create spaces for discussion, and would ask that you indicate how you intend to do this in your abstract submission.

Please indicate which form of presentation you would prefer.

Please send your presentation submission in the format below to academicdevelopment@stir.ac.uk no later than 20th December 2017.
