SPSS is statistical analysis software, available to all students and staff at the University.
AMOS is an add-on for SPSS (Analysis of MOment Structures): structural equation modelling system
SPSS version 23 is available in all student labs.
Staff desktop PCs
Staff using university desktop PCs may install SPSS v23 via Run Advertised Programs (in the Control Panel). Amos v23 is also available from RAP.
Personally owned devices
If students or staff wish to install SPSS v23 or AMOS v23 on their own computer, you can now download the software directly from UniDesk self-service. Please click here to start.
The software can also be borrowed from the lending desk within the library on USB. If you are having issues with the installation of SPSS, please contact the Information Centre to book an appointment with our installation technician.
Licence renewals: the SPSS licence expires annually at the end of December. Those using SPSS in the student labs or on staff desktop PCs will not need to take any action as the licence will be updated centrally. Those who have installed SPSS on their own equipment can pick up the latest code from UniDesk Self-Service.
Information Services does not offer any support in its use, however your course tutor may be able to assist. Kate Howie in the Computer Science and Maths department offers a statistical service for staff and postgraduates. Further information is available here.
