Over the summer of 2014, the University has undertaken a massive expansion of the Wifi network to cover the whole of the Stirling campus, including the Residences.
For the first time it will be possible to connect consoles to the Wi-Fi network in Residences.
How to get your device registered and connected to the Wi-Fi network
- First you have to figure out the MAC address of your device. Here is some help for finding your console MAC address: MAC Addresses and Game Consoles NOTE about MAC addresses: they only ever contain letters A-F and numbers 0-9.
- Next, go to an internet enabled device (your laptop or a lab PC) and go to the My Devices Portal page: https://mydevices.stir.ac.uk. Login and then enter your device's MAC address in the 'Device ID' field. Then give it a suitable description and click 'submit'. You can have a total of 4 devices connected to the Wi-Fi network - you can manage these through the My Devices portal.
- On your console, connect to the Wi-Fi signal 'UoS multimedia'. You are now connected to the network.
