We are delighted that you have chosen to study Nursing at the University of Stirling and very much look forward to meeting you in September.
Students starting in Year One
Your course starts on 11 September 2017.
Over the duration of your Nursing degree, you will spend time learning in both theory and practice learning settings. Your learning in these two settings are completed in blocks with the length of these blocks varying across the course. The flowchart below gives you more details about the timings of your theory and practice blocks for your first year on the programme.
While out on practice learning you will be required to complete 37.5 hours a week. Hours per week in theory blocks will vary and will be made up of a combination of face to face teaching and guided study that can be completed at home or in the library. The number of days you will be in class will vary from week to week but generally speaking you can expect to be in class for 2 to 3 days per week. Classes will not normally start before 9am and will finish by 5pm.
The timetable below shows the days of the week you will be on campus for face to face teaching shaded in green for the first 9 of 13 weeks of theory. The full 13 week timetable with details of classes and guided study will be provided to you during induction week. Although teaching times are mostly 10am to 3pm please note that you will be required to be on campus for longer hours some days. You will also have guided study to complete for the days you are not on campus.”
In addition to the University’s induction programme, you will also have a Nursing induction programme during your first week here.
The sessions scheduled during your Nursing induction week will give you the opportunity to find out more about the Nursing programme in Stirling, timetables, meet some of the staff and get to know your fellow students. You will also become familiar with the University both its campus and the services available to support you.
