Quality Improvement in Healthcare

QI Stirling logoQuality Improvement (QI) is essential to ensure safe, effective and person-centred health care.  A range of QI activity is led by a core team of staff, but QI is essentially everybody’s business.

Quality is a main theme throughout our undergraduate programme to ensure that our graduates are fit for clinical practice.

We also have CPD and Masters level CPD modules which aim to equip all healthcare professionals with key skills in QI.  Our MSc in Advanced Practice provides an opportunity to select a QI dissertation.

We believe that to effectively carry out QI students need an understanding of:

  • technical/rationale elements, ie models methods, tools;
  • social psychology, ie how people respond to change; and
  • the interaction of these two elements.

Our QI activities cover these important aspects, and their application to clinical practice.
