The University of Stirling and Lingnan University have established a new PhD exchange programme to encourage students from Stirling to visit Lingnan and students from Lingnan to visit Stirling for a period of up to 6 months to conduct research and engage in wider research activities.
Lingnan is a Liberal Arts University based in Hong Kong specialising in the arts (Chinese, Cultural Studies, English, History, Philosophy, Translation Studies, Visual Studies), social sciences (Psychology, Economics, Politics, Sociology) and business studies (Accountancy, Computer Science, Decision Science, Finance, Management, Marketing). It is an English-language university, but is multilingual and attracts many international students.
Scholarship funds worth up to HK$50,000 (c.£5,000) are available to cover travel and most accommodation costs for students wishing to take part in the programme. It is a unique opportunity for students looking to internationalise their research, receive expert guidance from scholars at Stirling/Lingnan and engage in a new research environment.
There is a research visit application form to complete and students must apply for an appropriate visa and meet the criteria as set out by UK/Hong Kong immigration policy. Students must identify suitable supervisors to ‘host’ the visit, write a short research plan, state when they would like to visit, produce a statement about why they want to apply, and get a statement of support from their primary supervisor or supervisory team. For Stirling students, please use the links below to identify potential supervisors at Lingnan who can host you. It is up to you to contact scholars at Lingnan but Stirling Graduate School and the Office of Global Education at Lingnan will be available to provide any support identifying any potential supervisors.
For Stirling students wishing to apply, please email your expression of interest to Stirling Graduate School at: firstname.lastname@example.org. We will then send you the relevant application forms.
For Lingnan students wishing to apply, please email your expression of interest to Stirling Graduate School at: email@example.com. We will then send you the relevant application forms. The number of students that Stirling can host will subject to available space and resources.
