Dr Keenan Smart

The degree of Doctor of the University was conferred on 26 November 2010 in recognition of Keenan Smart's outstanding contribution to wildlife film-making.

Keenan Smart graduated from Stirling in 1971 with a BA in Psychology.  His filmmaking career then began in the BBC Natural History Unit where he filmed wildlife in remote locations around the world and won numerous awards for programmes including Flight of the Condor and Wildlife on One.  He then established and headed the award-winning National Geographic's Natural History Unit and now produces programming for the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild Channel.
