23rd ENAS Forum and Assembly: Mental wellbeing - a whole university approach

About the University of Stirling

As Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, the University of Stirling has been at the heart of Scottish sport for over five decades.

Our ambition is to embed sport, health and wellbeing within the culture at the University and engage as many students, staff and members of the community, at a level of their choosing.

In recognition of our world-class facilities, including the National Swimming Academy and GB National Tennis Academy, and excellence across sports performance, research and education, Stirling has recently been named the UK’s Sports University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2020.

Mental wellbeing – a whole university approach

The University of Stirling is delighted to welcome to you to Scotland for the 2020 ENAS Forum and Assembly. Home of tartan, bagpipes and golf, Scotland is synonymous with the term ‘brave’ and a state of mind possibly best showcased by the blockbuster movie ‘Braveheart’ (that coincidentally premiered here at the University)!

The content of the 2020 programme threads this theme within the area of ‘wellbeing’ in universities. The significance of this topic is becoming more prevalent and in particular, the challenges which exist in mental wellbeing amongst our student and staff communities.

Undoubtedly, sport has a role to play.

  • What is that role?
  • How do we collaborate with colleagues and external partners to correctly position sport in wellbeing strategies?
  • How do we balance resources to achieve sporting priorities, alongside wellbeing objectives?

You will have the opportunity to listen to a series of expert keynote speakers, share good practice and most importantly, let’s unlock the discussions that might just answer these questions and fundamentally, provide learnings and ideas for us to bring back to our own institutions.
