Peacemakers: an interactive installation (October)

Staff, students and visitors to the Pathfoot Building are invited to join artists Heidi and Peter Gardner to create a new art installation which will subsequently be on display in the University Art Collection.

Heidi and Peter will be working with a Peacemakers Loom in the Crush Hall of the Pathfoot Building between the 14th and 18th October.  Visitors are invited to join the artists in a repetitive, simple action of knitting and to building peace through actions and kind words. This shared action produces a single textile piece, symbolic of the conversations and the temporary community of peacemakers created around the loom.

Peacemakers Loom is a joint project with Janet Foggie, Pioneer Minister at the University, the Art Collection and University Archives.

Contributions of spare yarn would be welcome, to add to the loom, double knitting or thicker would be ideal. Please drop off any yarn at Patches for Peace/Chaplaincy Centre the contact for this is janet.foggie@stir.ac.uk or 07899349246.

The Artists

Heidi Gardner and Peter Gardner, are a husband-and-wife artist duo, working under the name Gardner & Gardner.  Coming from different disciplines - Heidi from History of Art, Peter from Theology - they have built up our contemporary art practice in site-specific installation over two decades and work out of a studio in Glasgow while combining this with Peter's position as the ordained Church of Scotland minister to the visual arts communities of Glasgow. https://www.gardnerandgardner.co.uk
