'Think of a Number'
16 Sep 2017, 5.00PM–6.00PM
Lecture Theatre B4, Cottrell Building, University of Stirling
Professor Rachel Norman and Mr Donald Smith

Do you have a favourite number? If not, why not?
In this lecture, Rachel Norman and Donald Smith will discuss their favourite numbers, what is so special about them and why they find them interesting. Is it prime? Is it rational? Has anyone died defending it?
This lecture is appropriate for high school pupils and above and will be an accessible look at some simple mathematical concepts. It is part of the first Maths Week Scotland (http://www.gov.scot/mathsweek).
This event is free of charge and is open to all staff, students and members of the community. The lecture will end our September Open Day for prospective students and all Open Day visitors are warmly invited to attend.
There is no need to register in advance for this event.
