Polar Ocean Challenge

Join us for the latest instalment in the Inspiring People series of talks. Sir David Hempleman-Adams L.V.O, O.B.E. is one of the most experienced and successful adventurers in the world. In his forty years as an adventurer, Sir David was the first person to reach the highest peaks on all seven continents and journey fully to the North and South Geographical and Magnetic Poles.
He has broken forty-seven Federation Aeronautique Internationale ballooning records. In the New Year’s Honours list of 2017 he was awarded the KCVO, Knight Commander of the Victorian Order for services to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
This year Sir David and his crew set sail to circumnavigate the North Pole, a journey only now possible because of the shrinking of the Arctic ice cap.
David will talk about his Polar Ocean Challenge and the need to "navigate the future of the Arctic responsibly".
Admission £10.00 (payable on the night), £8 with a Tiso's Outdoor Experience card, free for RSGS members, students and under 18s.
This event is one in a series of public talks given by Inspiring People, organised by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and the Environmental Geography department, University of Stirling (@UoS_EnvGeog), in partnership with Tiso: the outdoor retail specialist.
