Japan Week: Revolution! A concert by the Edinburgh Quartet

20 Feb 2017, 7.00PM–8.00PM
'Venue', Students' Union, The Robbins Centre, University of Stirling

Join us for a delightful concert of international music from the Edinburgh Quartet. An image of Scottish and Japanese flags

The Edinburgh Quartet will perform Landscape (1961) by Toru Takemitsu, one of Japan’s leading composers of the twentieth century.  In the composer’s own words, “The most important thing in Japanese music is space, not sound” and his use of silence is typically effective in this short piece.

The Quartet will then play excerpts from their Revolution! programme which acknowledges the direct impact of Russian politics on Shostakovich, and illustrates how Beethoven can still shocks listeners today with his daring revolutionary spirit!
