2.00PM - 4.00PM
Speaker: Van Phillips
Venue: Court Room, Cottrell Building, University of Stirling
Ever wonder why innovation is important? For inventor Van Phillips it was a personal matter.
Join the University's student enterprise programme (USE) and Sporting Chance Initiative for a conversation with Van Phillips, the inventor of the running blade and this year's recipient of the Sports Business Innovation Award for Lifetime Achievement as he shares his story of innovation, enterprise and inspiration.
The Sports Business Innovation Awards are organised by Sporting Chance Initiative –who also run the Sports Innovation Challenge – Scotland’s only sports-based student competition to develop new products, services and/or tech.
Phillips’ technologically unique and innovative products have changed the face of prosthetics and has made sport accessible and competitive for generations of amputees globally.
“We’re all equal on this world and so should be the level of prosthetic care, especially if the loss is due to war or landmines. Just think – it’s every single step for the rest of one’s life.” - Van Phillips
This event is open to University of Stirling staff and students. If you would like to attend please register in advance via Eventbrite.
