Recycling furniture or other items

As part of its commitment to re-use or recycle resources that might otherwise be disposed of as ‘waste’, the University subscribes to WARPit  - an online peer-to-peer re-distribution network. WARPit makes it very easy for individual staff/departments/Schools to loan or give surplus items to in the first instance, others within the University. Any items not required within the University can be passed on to partner organisations. So, if you have an item that is taking up space that you do not need, the advice is not to request its disposal as a waste item but instead, to advertise it on WARPit. Equally, if you are looking for an item, check WARPit before considering buying new!

What items can be reused through WARPit?

Mostly re-usable furniture, electrical equipment, fixtures and fittings, office consumables (such as stationery and ink jet cartridges), lab equipment, supplies and medical equipment- but any resource really.

You can also upload any resources that are past their best for refurbishment or recycling such as WEEE, furniture with missing parts etc.
