Undergraduate course start dates

The majority of undergraduate courses will start on Monday 14 September 2020. You should familiarise yourself with the important dates below so you are prepared to start your studies in time.

You may have the option to defer your offer to 18 January 2021 if you are an International student or a student from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. See which courses this additional start date has been introduced for.

Teaching calendar for courses starting in September

Below you'll find important information on arrival and start dates for your 2020 undergraduate course. Make sure you take note of these as they may have changed since you received your offer.

Students travelling from outside the UK may need to quarantine for 14 days when entering the UK. If you are living in University-managed accommodation, your quarantine will be free if you arrive two weeks before the course start dateSee our travel advice page for more.

 
Teaching starts 14 September 2020

Last date for late starts arriving on campus

You should plan to arrive to start your course on time, but we appreciate that visa delays and other factors may cause a late arrival.  The final deadline for late arrival is 28 September 2020. It's really important that you let us know if you will be arriving late.

Course end date (if studying a four-year degree) 01 June 2024

How you'll be taught

In your first semester, we will use a blended approach that combines on-campus face-to-face teaching and interactive online learning. It will involve rich, engaging materials, live sessions and some short pre-recorded sessions, group or individual tasks, and regular formative assessment to check how you’re doing. Find out more about how you'll be taught.

January 2021 starts

There are a number of undergraduate courses that will also start in January 2021. International students and students from England, Northern Ireland and Wales can take advantage of this opportunity to start their undergraduate degree on 18 January 2021. How to defer your course

If you have an offer to start a course in September 2020 and would prefer to defer to a January 2021 start date and have not already contacted us requesting a deferral, you can send us an e-mail to admissions@stir.ac.uk. You can also do this on our applicant portal. Log onto the portal where you can request a change to your start date.

Scholarships

If you hold a scholarship offer to start an undergraduate course in September 2020, but you would prefer to defer your course to a January 2021 start date, we will still honour your scholarship.
