Sports Studies

Home country: Bangor, Northern Ireland

Living away from home tends to be a different kind of experience for everyone. Some, like me, love it from day one! Others may find it difficult to live away from family and friends to begin with, but with time end up really loving Stirling and enjoying the freedom and independence you get from living away from home. I missed my family and friends a lot however people in Stirling are so welcoming and friendly that it's easy to make new friends!

I prefer the studying and learning styles of university much more than school as it’s much more specialised towards your degree, and for me that is awesome as I find Sports Studies really interesting making it easy to work and revise! The University offers an amazing opportunity to study abroad which I have decided to take advantage of, and so I am really looking forward to spending a semester at San Diego State in the California sun!

The best way to make the most of the activities the University has to offer is to get involved and be open to trying new things. Stirling has many sports teams and societies to offer. I've joined a few and have found that it's another easy way to make good friends and just to have fun! I joined the Stirling Clansmen American Football team in First Year and have been playing since. You meet some great people and make a lot of good memories by getting involved in the activities and societies Stirling offers so my advice would be to go for it!
