Staff Charity Fund Quiz 2015
The Staff Charities Fund Committee presented cheques to Riding for the Disabled, Forth Valley Branch and to the Scottish Association for Mental Health on Tuesday 26 January 2016.
Members of the Staff Charities Fund Committee held a quiz on 23 October at the Birds and the Bees. Thanks to them and the hard work on the night by Claire Johnstone of Santander’s University of Stirling Branch selling seats and raffle tickets, plus matched funding kindly received from Santander, each charity has benefitted by £703.05.
Megan Stobo, Community Fundraiser at SAMH commented:
“A huge thank you to the Stirling University Staff Charities Fund who very kindly chose to fundraise for SAMH at their recent pub quiz. The funds raised on the night will go such a long way in helping promote good mental health and wellbeing, suicide prevention and challenging stigma all across Scotland. We are so grateful to everyone who attended the event for their generosity and support!”
Liz Patton, of Riding for the Disabled, Forth Valley Branch, commented:
“Forth Valley Riding for the Disabled Group has been based at Greenhead Farm in Alva for 5 years now. The group provides therapeutic equine sessions for many types of children using horses lent to them by horse owners at the livery yard. It is of benefit to children with physical disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties and children on the autistic spectrum, building strength, lessening anxieties and increasing confidence.
“The group is gradually building its base at the yard and depends on donations to improve facilities. We are delighted, therefore, to receive such a generous sum from the Stirling University Staff Charity Fund and topped up by the Santander Group. We would like to thank all those involved in this for their generosity.”
Peter Hancock, Chair of the Staff Charities Fund commented:
“We are grateful to everyone who helped stage the pub quiz and to all those who came along to it. Our next initiative is a ‘Couch to 5K’ group, leading to participation in a Race for Life here in May. That will be followed by a rounders match in the summer.”
