Internships provide you with the opportunity to enhance your employability by applying your skills in a professional context, strengthening your CV, obtaining relevant experience and discovering what working in a particular role is like while earning money.

You do need to be very careful when choosing and applying for an internship to make sure you are being paid! If you are working set hours, have a manager and are expected to perform certain duties, then you have a legal entitlement to be paid. The university only advertises paid internships.
