Victor Vasarely (1906-1997)

(Screenprint, 94/175, 1968)

Born in Hungary, Victor Vasarely started to study medicine in Budapest in 1925 but soon abandoned this for art, becoming a graphic artist and moving to Paris in 1930. It was in the late 1940s that he found his metier and is regarded as a 'grandfather' of the op-art movement. This print was one of the first purchased for the new University in 1968.
