Born in Irvine in 1948, Margaret Hunter studied as a mature student at Glasgow School of Art 1981–85 (where her teachers included Sandy Moffat and Barbara Rae) and then under Professor Georg Baselitz at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. She is a regular guest tutor at GSA, has also been a visiting lecturer at ECA and Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee and she lives and works in Berlin and Scotland. She has exhibited extensively both in Germany and the UK.
