Born in Roslin, Midlothian in 1956, Helen Denerley graduated from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen in 1977. Her sculptures, mainly made from scrap metal and found objects, can be found in many public places, and she has also exhibited widely.

Helen Denerley was commissioned by the Art Collection to create three oystercatchers for one of the Pathfoot courtyards, re-designed by Guy Rodger in 2007.
