This festival aimed to highlight the University’s diverse student and staff population and increase awareness and understanding of different cultures through the provision of activities focusing on food, language, art, culture and music. These activities included a language café; a dancing display; African drumming; Scottish music; poetry reading; traditional Chinese music and international food tasting.
The University’s Student Services and societies were invited to participate in the event to help increase awareness and support international student integration on campus. This event also provided family themed activities in the macrobert such as story telling; African drumming and face painting. The children particularly enjoyed the performances from the story teller and the African drummer!
The International Festival was held in collaboration with the Students’ Union and was sponsored by Turkish Airlines as well as the Stirling Fund. It was also supported by the OneStirling campaign and helped promote the University’s #WeAreInternational social media campaign which celebrates international students and international alumni. This campaign provides a platform for students to share their story with the rest of the public about why they chose to study in the UK, as well as the experience that they have gained during their studies and is run by Education UK, Universities UK and NUS.
