Frequently asked questions

How do I check my personalised timetable?

How can I find out where a room is?

The room number on your timetable will tell you which building and floor the room is on, e.g. C.B23= Cottrell Building, B corridor, room 23.

Our campus maps are a useful resource for assisting you with the location of the teaching venues. The maps are also available on the University mobile app.

How will I be taught?

Supporting your studies with increased teaching on campus and providing the right teaching tools to support your learning experience is our priority. Read more about how you'll be taught.

Will my timetable change?

We try not to change timetables after they have been published, but this is sometimes unavoidable. Any changes will be updated on your personalised timetable.

I have a clash on my timetable. What should I do?

If your induction or class test clashes with a lecture, don’t worry. These classes are only running for that week and you can catch up with the lecture material via Canvas or from material from the lecture.

For other clashes please contact your Faculty and they will be able to advise you of the most appropriate course of action.

How is the timetable produced?

We gather information about modules running, registered student numbers, staff availability and the availability of suitably sized rooms. We then assess this information to produce the timetable.

My timetable seems unbalanced with lots of classes on one day and not others - why?

When producing the University timetable our goal is to create a working timetable where all classes have suitably sized rooms and ensure that there are no clashes between compulsory modules. The wide range of optional modules available means it is not possible to guarantee that every possible combination will be available without clashes.
