We gather information about modules running, registered student numbers, staff availability and the availability of suitably sized rooms. We then assess this information to produce the timetable.
The timetable is produced directly from our timetabling software which has restrictions on the way data can be displayed. Go to our chart which gives you the dates for the University of Stirling teaching weeks.
If your introductory meeting (IM) or class test (CT) clashes with a lecture, don’t worry. These classes are only running for that week and you can catch up with the lecture material via Listen Again or from material from the lecture.
For other clashes please contact your Faculty and they will be able to advise you of the most appropriate course of action.
Not all modules have lectures. Go to our Subject Timetables information to see what you are required to attend for a module.
When producing the University timetable our goal is to create a working timetable where all classes have suitably sized rooms and ensure that there are no clashes between compulsory modules. The wide range of optional modules available means it is not possible to guarantee that every possible combination will be available without clashes.
Seminar registration usually opens the week before the start of the semester, unless the lecturer teaching the module has changed this date. Most lecturers advise to wait until your induction to register for seminars. You will be able to sign up for seminars on Canvas once registration opens as long as you have fully completed online enrolment.
The lecture generator does not include seminar times as some modules require students to select which seminar they would like to attend and this is often not done until students have started at the University. The seminar registration process is via Canvas (our online learning environment) and can only be completed once you are fully enrolled.
Room information is displayed as building then room e.g. C.2B48 - C is the Cottrell Building and 2B48 is the room in the Cottrell Building.
Get more information on teaching room locations including maps with links to a list of teaching rooms and which building they are in, maps of the campus and list of equipment in the teaching rooms.
We try not to change timetables after they have been published, but this is sometimes unavoidable. Any changes will be updated on the timetable generator and on our teaching timetable web page.
