Professor Tim Whalley

Professor Tim Whalley is institutional Dean for Student Experience. This role has many aspects, including work on all facets of the learner journey, student voice and evaluation, academic and pastoral support, recruitment and retention, learning spaces and pedagogical development, widening access and articulation.

Tim completed a BSc and a PhD at University College London, where he developed interests in signal transduction and intracellular membrane transport processes. He joined the University of Stirling following a period of post-doctoral research into molecular membrane biophysics at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA where he was a Fogarty International Scholar.

Tim is a highly experienced educator in the fields of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and physiology. He is a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching, given by the University of Stirling Students’ Union.

In addition to his roles at the University of Stirling, Tim is a member of the Universities Scotland Learning and Teaching Committee and the National Articulation Forum.
