Professional Development and Practice

As an undergraduate at The University of Stirling Management School, you can benefit from a module that allows you to excel in the ‘softer skills’ that are sought by employers, such as communication and presentation.

One reason many of our graduates are high achievers, is due to our emphasis on building your employability. We’re a supportive and forward-thinking Management School that will challenge your thinking and encourage you to develop through every stage of your degree. The Professional Development and Practice (PDP) module provides an opportunity for you to maximise your transferable business skills.

Helping you to be the difference

You may be at the beginning of your personal and professional journey, but our PDP module will set you up with the right skills for the global business world.

We make sure you’re prepared for the real world by developing your communication, team-working, and career management skills including CV writing and interview preparation. You’ll discover where your strengths lie and what you could improve. At the end of the module, you’ll be better prepared for a successful career.

Hear from industry experts

Looking for real business insights? Every week you’ll be able to hear from industry leaders, who will deliver a talk to inspire your ambition and give you further insight into the business world. We select experts in their field to cover a different business topic each week.

Networking

Benefit from a unique networking skills event, where we bring together business representatives from local and national companies. You’ll practice your networking skills, build your contacts and work with your peers across the different areas of the School.

Developing leaders

We also build your confidence in organising and planning events, and bring in actors to develop your communication abilities. Communication is one key area that is valued by employers worldwide and in any industry. You’ll gain confidence in your strengths and improve on your weaknesses.

As the module runs across the entire Management School, you’ll discover how the different business areas in an organisation fit together and work to solve problems. You’ll interact with students from subjects across the School, including Accountancy, Marketing, Finance and Human Resources.
