Business connections

From career events to work placements, we work with our business partners and connections to provide you with experience and training.

Our applied courses have specifically been developed with business partners to help solve skill shortages.

We’re committed to helping you fulfil your career aspirations. When you graduate from the University of Stirling you’ll be ready for the world of work.

Aquaculture

We work closely with the aquaculture sector in more than 20 countries, including every major company in Scotland. This gives our students opportunities to carry out business-based research projects. Lectures and workshops in a number of modules are given by professionals from the aquaculture sector.

Biological and Environmental Sciences

The University of Stirling is a hub for conservation activity in Scotland. We’ve strong links with research and conservation bodies in Scotland such as the Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.

We also have excellent links with international organisations such as:

  • International Union for Conservation of Nature
  • European Environment Agency
  • Wildlife Conservation Society
  • Norwegian Institute for Nature Research
  • Gabon National Park Agency

Several conservation NGOs have offices on the University campus, including RSPB, Scottish Natural Heritage, British Trust for Ornithology and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. We work closely with these organisations and our research contributes to their conservation strategies.

Computing Science and Mathematics

We’ve strong links with Scottish business through the Industrial Advisory Board which has members from both Scottish and international businesses such as IBM, HSBC and Adobe.

The University of Stirling is a member of The Data Lab, which is an innovation centre with the aim of developing the data science talent and skills required by business in Scotland.

We work with HSBC and Amazon who have local development centres. We also have a programme of invited speakers from business who give the students a chance to ask questions and gain insight. Recent companies have included MongoDB, SkyScanner and HSBC.
