Inaugural Lecture: Biominerals the Hard Part of Multidisciplinary Research

Maggie Cusack is Professor of Biomineralisation, Dean of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling and Vice President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Her biomineral research includes environmental aspects such as ocean acidification and climate proxies. From a PhD in protein biochemistry where she studied the sweetest substance known, she moved to geosciences to explore the role of proteins in mineral formation.
