Childcare vouchers

Following a parliamentary debate on March 13th, the planned closure date of Childcare Vouchers for new joiners has been extended for a further six months to 5th October 2018.  Employees can still apply to join the Sodexo Voucher Scheme.

If you are already a member you do not need to do anything.

The University of Stirling has partnered with Sodexo Childcare to help save money on childcare costs with Childcare Vouchers (CCVs).

The Childcare Voucher Service is offered through a salary sacrifice scheme, this is a voluntary benefit scheme, whereby you are given the option of exchanging part of your gross salary for CCVs.  You have the opportunity to take up to £56 per week (£243 per month) in CCVs and you will receive Tax and National Insurance exemptions on the value taken.  If you take the full amount, over the course of a year (£2912) this will represent a saving of up to £1066.00.  What you save depends on the rate at which you pay Tax and National Insurance.

You should note that you must earn at least £5000.00 per annum after the deduction of your CCVs to qualify for the scheme.  If your earnings fall below this level then this would impact on any state related benefits.

Your care provider

Your care provider will need to be approved and registered with Sodexo to accept childcare vouchers as payment. If not already registered they can do this at the carers’ pages of the site.  When your carer has registered with us you can add them to your account, using their Carer ID number and postcode as a reference.

How to apply for Sodexo Childcare Vouchers

You should email the pay and pensions team in the first instance. You will then be sent an invitation email from Sodexo Vouchers asking you to create your own individual account.
