Learning Disability and Dementia: Training for Trainers One-Day course

This course prepares health and social care staff to provide individualised and appropriate post-diagnostic support for people with a learning disability and dementia as part of wider organisational planning.

Course content

Participants of the course will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • Awareness of how dementia may affect people with a learning disability.
  • Safe implementation of non-drug support for people with a learning disability and dementia.
  • Rights-based approach to providing support.
  • Planning ahead as an organisation to support an ageing population of people with a learning disability.
  • Practical examples and exercises.
