Willie Rodger studied at Glasgow School of Art then taught art in schools for many years, all the while painting and printmaking. After leaving teaching in 1976 he exhibited widely. He was the first printmaker to be awarded Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1989, of the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1994 and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Stirling in 1999. He is now regarded as Scotland's master printmaker and as an accomplished painter and designer of stained glass windows.
In 2008 a major exhibition of the works of Willie Rodger and his family was held at the University. The catalogue from this exhibition is available to purchase in the Pathfoot Crush Hall or online.
