(Screenprint, 51/74)

Robyn Denny was born in Abinger, Surrey and is one of a group who transformed British art in the late 1950s, leading it into the international mainstream. He studied at the Royal College of Art in the mid-1950s, among a generation that included Richard Smith and Alan Green who were inspired by Abstract Expressionism, American films, popular culture and urban modernity. Denny's paintings consist of simple, symmetrical straight line forms with flat planes of a few sombre colours.
