(Acrylic, pencil and matt varnish on canvas)
Born in Stirling in 1977, Emma Scott-Smith grew up in Alloa and was educated at Dollar Academy until the age of twelve when she had to leave due to ill health. She began exhibiting as an artist at sixteen and gained critical feedback about her work from other artists which enabled her to hone her skills.
Since her first sell out solo show at the MacRobert in 1997, she has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including twice in China at the Chen Tang Zhaung Art and Technology Gallery. She has also undertaken many commissions and made two films.
In 2015 she took part in the exhibition ‘Reflections of the East’ at the University of Stirling, and this work was donated to the Art Collection by the artist after the exhibition.
