Kate Howie is a Teaching Fellow in mathematics, she joined the University from working as a statistician in medical research. Since being at Stirling, she has taught statistics to students from first year to fourth year undergraduates and MSc and PhD students. Her teaching covers the usefulness of statistics as well as the theoretical and practical techniques.
Kate particularly enjoys meeting students and their parents when they visit the University on Open Days and Applicant Days and then meeting the parents again at graduations. She finds it fulfilling to watch students mature personally and supporting their progression academically through their studies and moving into either employment or further study.
