The Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal is a £214 million investment in the future of the region, unlocking potential to drive economic growth, productivity and prosperity.

Through working collaboratively, government, industry and innovators are taking a long-term strategic approach to develop the jobs, skills and technologies necessary to ensure the wellbeing of future generations. An investment of £90.2 million from the UK and Scottish Governments will be matched by up to £123.8 million from regional partners. This initial funding has potential to leverage additional private investment in excess of £640 million over the next 10 to 15 years, delivering more than 5,000 new jobs across a wide range of sectors.

investment in the University of Stirling

Research and innovation is central to achieving this vision. Working closely with partners, we can understand the challenges that businesses are facing and pioneer new solutions, creating high-value jobs and supporting greater productivity.

The Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal provides £22 million of investment for two research hubs at the University; £17 million for a new Institute of Aquaculture and Global Aquatic Food Security facility, as well as £5 million for an International Environment Centre.

This investment in world-class research infrastructure will enable University of Stirling researchers to further tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems, building on an established track record and placing innovation at the heart of a co-ordinated drive for sustainable, inclusive growth.
