John Brunsdon

(Etching 66/75)

Born in Cheltenham in 1933, John Brunsdon studied at Cheltenham School of Art, and, after National Service, went on to the Royal College of Art where he concentrated on etching, and where Julian Trevelyan was a 'vigorous and fundamental influence'. During the 1960s he taught at St Albans School of Art, where he established printmaking. Since 1977 he has devoted his time fully to etching in his printing studio in Suffolk where all his work is individually hand etched, inked, coloured and printed. The artist says that he takes 'delight in the texture and decorative qualities of etched marks and the sweeping shapes of broad colour which fuse into timeless images'.

There are several of his prints in the Art Collection.
