David Imms

(Screenprint 8/11, 1972)

Born near Derby in 1945, David Imms studied at Derby College of Art (1962-64), then at the Central School of Art and Design, London (1964-67). He is well known for his bold and vibrant interpretations of the West Country landscape. He takes his subject matter from those parts of the landscape which reflect literary and historical associations, such as the Dorset of Thomas Hardy, the Somerset of Coleridge and the Wiltshire of the prehistoric earthworks and stones.

There are three prints by this artist in the collection, two of which are on display in Pathfoot A corridor.
