Alexander Goudie (1933-2004)


Portrait of the Right Honourable Lord Stewart
(Oil on canvas, 1985)

Born in Paisley, Alexander Goudie studied at Glasgow School of Art (1950-55) and was a tutor there before devoting himself to art full time. He painted many eminent people, including the Queen and in 1970 was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

The Right Honourable Lord Stewart was Chairman of the University Court 1976-1984.

This portrait hangs alongside other portraits in the Courtroom Building.
