Born in Scotland in 1966, Alec Finlay is an artist, poet and publisher. He carries out much of his work in a collaborative way and often creates links not only with other people, but also between visual art and poetry.
An alumnus of Stirling, Alec Finlay recently returned as the University's first Artist in Residence in 2013. One element of this multi-disciplinary residency, which was funded by the Leverhulme Trust, involved the installation of a 'bee library' across campus. The library consists of 21 'bee nests', created from bee-related books and bamboo, to provide shelter for solitary bees.
