HNC/HND

A full range of Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) are accepted for entry into Year 1 of most of our degree programmes. We usually ask for students to pass the whole course and obtain B’s or above in their graded units. Some programmes may require an HN course in a specific subject to meet any additional subject requirements for entry into the course – e.g. a Science-based HN course for entry into our Biological and Environmental degrees.

Higher National Certificate (HNC)

It is possible to gain advanced entry into Year 2 of a degree programme from an HNC into a small number of subject related degree programmes. For further advice and guidance please contact our College Liaison Manager, or consult the online a-z course list.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

It is possible to gain advanced entry from an HND into Year 2 and 3 of a degree programme into a small number of subject related degree programmes. For further advice and guidance please contact our College Liaison Manager, or consult the online a-z course list.

HNDs from England, Wales and Northern Ireland require merits and at least two distinctions in all units. Year 3 entry will require 50 percent of merits/distinctions in second year subjects. Double units will be considered as two merit units. You should indicate clearly the double units taken. Each application will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact the UK Undergraduate Office for advice on your course.
