Health and fitness: from aquajog to zumba

We offer nearly 60 exercise classes per week for you to try out and enjoy. You’ll be welcomed by instructors used to working with all levels of fitness and experience.

All activities are available to non-members but membership will give you free or discounted access to many activities.

Please note all Yoga and Pilates classes are now being delivered as bookable Workshops in blocks. Check out our the timetable for more details.

Class nameOutline
Aquacise This is water based workout trains the heart and lungs and tones the whole body, using the natural buoyancy of the water which reduces stress and impact on the joints.
Aquajog

A water based workout in deep water using floatation aids. This low impact jogging exercises class is great for toning the whole body. 

Boxercise

A non-contact session, based on the techniques in boxing. It will get you super-fit in a high intensity workout combining resistance training and aerobic exercise.

Cycle

Burn calories and tone up through an indoor cycling group workout riding to the rhythm of the music. Work at your own pace through the hills, flats and sprints to reach your personal fitness goals.

Functional Circuit Training

A fun and exciting mix of both cardiovascular and resistance challenges to sculpt and shape the body using functional training methods.

H.I.I.T.

High Intensity interval training - alternating bouts of short, high-intensity exercise and low-intensity recovery periods. This 30 minute class will combine different exercises each week to give maximum results.

Kettlebells

An all over toning and strengthening class using weighted Kettlebells. The class will challenge your stamina, muscular endurance, co-ordination, speed and flexibility using functional movements with the Kettlebells.

LBT A lower body toning and sculpting class that incorporates a mix of high and low impact moves.
Pilates

Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing and developing a strong core.

PiYo Live

Sweat, stretch and strengthen – all in one low-impact, music driven, body-sculpting workout.

Pump it Up

This class uses barbells to strengthen the entire body. A selection of weights makes the class suitable for all and will challenge all major muscle groups.

Super Circuits

An instructor led circuit class using a number of stations with different exercises for specific body parts. An excellent way to improve aerobic fitness, strength and muscular endurance.

TRX Blast

A total body workout using the multi-function of the TRX training Station. You will work the entire body and challenge your core.

Yoga

Improves posture and flexibility, working specifically on breathing and relaxation techniques. This class is suitable for all and aims to release tension and increase energy levels.

Yogalates

A fusion of Yoga and Pilates – A fitness routine that combines Pilates exercise with the postures and breathing techniques of yoga.

Zumba

Join the Party! Zumba is a great way to condition your body to some funky music and moves from around the world.

Booking

Booking details

Members can book in to classes in person or via telephone up to seven days in advance. Non-members can book in to classes in person or via telephone up to one day in advance. Bookings can be made up to five minutes before the start of the class to ensure the start of each class isn't interrupted.

If you are booked on to a class and are unable to attend, please cancel your booking by calling the Sports Centre so that we can offer out your space. If you fail to attend three booked classes without cancelling in advance, you will be unable to pre-book on to classes for one week. Participants in our classes must be aged 16 or over.
