As Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Fiona leads on the development and delivery of the Faculty’s research strategy, supporting our Research Groups and staff to build on existing strengths and develop new research and collaborations. Fiona is a member of the Education Studies Research Group and she researches in the field of TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) with a particular focus on feedback in teacher conferences, teaching young learners and native English speaker teaching schemes.
Gill supports Fiona to deliver the Faculty’s research strategy. She is a member of the Crime and Research Group and former founding Co-Director of the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research. Her research interests include community sanctions and measures, gender and justice, problem-solving justice and penal innovation. She is a member of the Spinhuis Centre for Research on Incarcerated Females at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement, Amsterdam and the Scottish Prison Service Women’s Strategy Programme’s External Advisory Group
