Join the Faculty of Social Sciences as we celebrate our University's 50th Anniversary

The University’s Community Open Doors Day is fast approaching and as part of that there’s a diverse and extensive mix of events taking place across the campus. Our Faculty events, around the theme ‘Bridging Generations’, will begin with three short, engaging lectures from Professor Alison Bowes, Dr Paul Rigby and Dr Alasdair Rutherford.Following this you’ll get the opportunity to probe some of the big questions of our time with local politicians and Faculty experts in their field.

The Faculty of Social Sciences launches The Stirling Network for Curriculum Studies

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Stirling is delighted to announce the formation of a new Network for Curriculum Studies. Building upon the Faculty’s internationally-known work in this area, the Network’s aim is to promote scholarship and research in the area of curriculum studies, by bringing together scholars, policymakers and practitioners from around the world.

Aileen Ireland wins the prestigious British Educational Research Association Masters Dissertation Award

Every year the British Educational Research Association (BERA) recognises academic excellence and rigour in research by a Master of Education student. The award underscores BERA’s commitment to developing capacity, advancing quality and methodological originality within the field of educational research. This year, the first place prize was awarded to Faculty of Social Sciences student Aileen Ireland, for her paper: The Simulated Human: An Actor-Network exploration of the materialities of mobilising practice learning in uncanny spaces.

Success at the 45th annual conference of the British Society of Gerontology

The 45th annual conference of the British Society of Gerontology took place in Stirling from 6th – 8th July 2016. We were joined by over 300 delegates, presenters and exhibitors from around the world; colleagues joined us from places such as Nigeria, India and New Zealand alongside many delegates from across the UK.
