Dementia Studies

Postgraduate programme in dementia studies: Certificate/Diploma/MSc

Introductory teaching day

The programme commences with a single introductory teaching day for all modules. This session will be held on the campus here at Stirling University on Wednesday 6th September 2017. Registration is between 9:00 am โ€“ 9:30 am in the Iris Murdoch Building and a map with its location can be viewed on this campus map (Key 10 on map). Lunch will be provided.

The introductory session combines presentations, workshops and group exercises. These activities provide an overview of the dementia studies programme and module topics, study skills advice, guidance on assignments, and information about the resources available and systems in place to support you during your studies. The session also provides an opportunity to get to know fellow students and the teaching team. Staff from information services will provide an introduction to the library and the virtual learning environment for online study and interaction with your tutor group. You will receive information about your module tutor and the tutor group you will be studying with. In addition, you will be introduced to your personal tutor, someone who will stay with you throughout your studies at Stirling providing mentoring and support.

Online introductory session

For international students, or those unable to attend the introductory teaching day in person, we record lecture podcasts and run a dedicated two-hour online introductory session for each year group that provides an overview of the programme, module topics, study skills advice, guidance on assignments, and information about the resources available and systems in place to support you.

An alternative two-hour online session for each module will be held as follows:

DEMPGC2/C3          Thursday 7th September 2pm-4pm (UK time)

DEMPGL2/L3           Friday 8th September 2pm-4pm (UK time)

DEMPM2/M3            Friday 8th September 10am-12pm (UK time)
