Students on the MSc Applied Professional Studies and our Graduate Certificates have access to a range of induction opportunities depending on the modules they choose for their study pathway. Induction sessions are provided at the beginning of the autumn and spring semesters, allowing students to meet tutors, other students and representatives of sponsoring agencies. Staff from our Information Services will guide students through the systems that will support them in their studies, such as library resources and online platforms for teaching and assessment. Key members of staff provide an overview of the programme and help students prepare for their period of study. Many of our students access their teaching at local venues off-campus and we have created additional printed and online resources, including podcasts and guides that can be accessed at a time and place to suit the student.
The Applied Professional Studies induction will take place on Thursday 31 August between 9:30am-1pm.
Inductions sessions are available on campus at the start of each semester. The next session is on Thursday 31st August 2017.
The induction sessions are part of our ongoing work to ensure that students are in a good position to fully engage with their learning when they begin their studies.
Once students have submitted an application to the university they will receive an initial acknowledgment email from Admissions which includes their student number, and then an offer email for the programme. The offer will be for the MSc Applied Professional Studies (or Graduate Certificate for Level 10 applicants) even if the student only intends to complete a Certificate. Once they have received the offer they need to formally accept that on the university portal or else nothing will progress. Communications from the university will be sent to the student’s university email address once this has been assigned so it is important to check that regularly or set up a redirect to a work or personal email account.
Once the student has accepted the offer their application will transfer from 'Admissions' to 'Enrolment and Fees' who will send out an enrolment email. The student needs to respond by completing relevant details including payment arrangements and uploading a photo for their ID card. The next stage is for the student to register for the correct module in spring 2017 - and also to formally enrol for study. Module registration will open on the 8th of August, and enrolment will open on 28th of August January. It is particularly helpful if you can complete the registration and enrolment process before 31st of August but we will be able to assist with any problems on the day.
The session is free of charge but candidates must let us know if they wish to attend. Candidates should email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Joanne Nairn on 01786 467 703 to request a place. Please feel free to contact Joanne if you have any queries or wish to discuss information for agency representatives.
Please note that parking can be very busy in semester time and you are encouraged to arrive early to avoid stress when finding a parking space.
