Undergraduate Programmes

Within the Faculty of Social Sciences we offer diverse undergraduate programmes, consistently high ranked, across social science disciplines namely Education, Sociology, Social Policy, Criminology and Social Work. Our innovative and distinctive programmes are notable for being taught by active researchers in the field, are designed to prepare our graduates for successful and rewarding careers. The progressive engagement of theory and practice across our professional programmes is also widely recognised and valued by our recent students and graduates.

Taught Postgraduate Programmes

Within the Faculty of Social Sciences we offer an established, research-led suite of interdisciplinary taught postgraduate programmes,  including our world renowned Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) programmes, ESRC recognised programmes in Social Research and diverse Doctoral opportunities . Our externally accredited professional programmes such as Educational Leadership, Housing Studies and Social Work Studies are designed to best equip our students with practical and transferable knowledge for the complex demands of professional practice.

The Faculty provides a critical space within which to address these challenges with our students and facilitate the generation of ideas in a range of contexts. Through our research and teaching programmes we are well placed to support those who want to make a difference in the world. We offer PhDs by Research or by Publication, Taught PhDs (EdD and DASR) and Masters degrees by research.
