If you have the talent, ability and drive to study for a postgraduate degree at the University of Stirling, we want to ensure you can make the most of the opportunity, regardless of your financial circumstances.
SAAS postgraduate loans offer postgraduate students repayable support towards the cost of tuition fees and living costs (for full time students only) and is available to eligible Scottish and EU-domiciled students undertaking full-time and part-time postgraduate study on specific courses.
You can apply for a loan to pay your tuition fees of up to £5,500 (£2,750 if you're studying part-time). This loan only covers tuition fees, and loan payment for tuition fees will be made directly to the University of Stirling by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) on your behalf.
If the postgraduate course you're studying costs more than the £5,500 (or £2,750 part-time), you'll need to ensure that you are able to pay the difference yourself.
Eligible postgraduate students can apply for up to £4,500 for a living-cost loan (for full time students only).
Extra help may be available if you incur additional costs over the course of your postgraduate studies because of a disability or learning difficulty. Learn more about Disabled Students' Allowance.
You will also need to meet the following residency requirements:
Eligible full-time students can also apply for a living-cost loan up to £4,500. To be eligible for the living-cost loan, you must be under 60-years-old at the start of the first academic year of your course. If you change course and are 60-years-old or over at the start of your second course, you won't be entitled to a loan for your second course.
Part-time students are not eligible to receive a living-cost loan.
Students will be eligible to apply to Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) for funding around the middle of April 2017 – this will be for courses commencing between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018. Please apply before 30 June 2017 to ensure that your support package is in place prior to you enrolling. That being said, SAAS will accept applications until early 2018.
Students are advised to download the relevant application form from the SAAS website, complete it and return to SAAS along with a copy of your offer of admission letter from the University of Stirling.
