About me

Dr Giuseppe Paladini has acquired experience on a wide variety of aquatic parasite groups for the last 17 years, completing the BSc (Hons) in Aquaculture & Fish Pathology, the MSc in Food Safety & Animal Health, both at the University of Bologna (Italy), and the PhD in Veterinary Aquaculture and Aquatic Parasitology at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling (UK). The research conducted throughout the years investigated, for example, the susceptibility of English and Welsh salmonids to a pathogenic Norwegian strain of Gyrodactylus salaris (an OIE listed ectoparasitic pathogen of Atlantic salmon) as well as helping to develop diagnostic protocols for use during periods of a suspected outbreak and for routine surveillance. It also involved investigation of aspects of chemotherapeutant control. Dr Giuseppe Paladini is currently a Lecturer in Aquatic Parasitology at the University of Stirling, he is a new member of the Parasites & Pathogens committee for the British Ecological Society (BES), and he has also been involved in organising past conferences of the Italian Society of Fish Pathology (SIPI).
