About me

I moved from South India to Inverness in November 2011. My background is nursing and I have been involved with practice, management, education and research supervision within nursing academia at the Christian Medical College, Vellore (http://www.cmch-vellore.edu/) for over two decades as Professor in Nursing. I have taught a range of subjects both to under graduate and post graduate students. My PhD from the Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne work was a Qualitative study on risk perception in older South Asians with Type 2 Diabetes in the United Kingdom. I am based in the Highland Campus as Lecturer on the MSc in Health and Wellbeing of the Older Person and PG Module coordinator for Anticipating and Enhancing care of a person with dementia in practice settings. More recently, I led the development of a strategic and distinctive undergraduate dementia curriculum called Being Dementia Smart that is embedded throughout the pre reg programme based on the Promoting Excellence Framework. I have been recognised as a Senior Fellow of the UK higher Education Academy in Jan 2016. I am a peer reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Nursing, Journal of Advanced Nursing and am on the editorial board of the International Journal of Older People Nursing. My professional affiliations and membership is inclusive of the Nurse Leader Member of the Phi Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. My teaching and research collaborations are with NHS Highland, Alzheimer Scotland and Diabetes Scotland.
