About me

Education: LLB (Edinburgh) Diploma in Legal Practice

My background is in legal practice as a solicitor in both the commercial and public sectors. One of my key goals is to ensure that law students connect with employers. I won the student led Recognising Achievement in Teaching Excellence (RATE) Award for Careers Advice in the Faculty in 2013. “It is vital for students to take control of their careers: we encourage them to identify their interests, research the market, plan their development and get work experience. To ensure that our programmes meet the needs of employers, I set up the Law Advisory Panel in 2013: this comprises a range of local and national employers who meet to review our programmes and modules. I also run ‘Careers in Law’ seminars with guest speakers andwork with our Career Development Centre to offer career workshops . Our Work Placement and Commercial Awareness modules help students to develop their connection with the world of work and students have benefitted from placements with our partner employers, including law firms, Virgin Money, Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration, Royal Bank of Scotland, Child Law Centre and energy companies.”
