University of Stirling Golfer Lorna McClymont has retained the Women’s Irish Open title.

Her latest success comes after she secured the Women’s Welsh Open title two weeks ago.

The University of Stirling Sports Studies student from Milngavie set two course records on the way to victory at the Flogas Irish Women’s Championship, and said having fun was key to success.

Lorna said: "I have been working on every part of my game, just putting and having confidence in hitting certain shots, but also having the mindset that anything can happen. Being patient and enjoying it was the main thing for me really.

"I tell myself it’s not over until it’s over. Anything can happen within the space of a hole. It’s always staying patient, when things weren’t going my way."

Shooting low rounds of 68 and 67 and finishing on 72 on her way to a total of -16, it’s now five wins in six appearances for the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, there was further global success for recent University of Stirling golf scholar, Louise Duncan, who recorded her best finish so far as a professional by ending up in the top ten in the LET’s Aramco Team Series at Trump International in Florida.

After opening with scores of 69-72, the former R&A Women’s Amateur Champion was tied for second and just one shot off the lead heading into the final round, which saw her in the same group as two-time major winner and world number three, Lydia Ko.

Louise finished with a share of seventh overall with the title being taken by Carlota Ciganda from Spain.
